My Advent of blogging

This post will make it 25 consecutive days of posting, which I think is my longest ever. A few impressions:

  1. I feel much more creative and generative. It feels a lot like doing "morning pages" (as advocated in The Artist's Way). It really does seem that this unclogs one's mind (h/t Nabeel Qureshi).
  2. Posting every day feels easier, overall, than posting every two or three days. Perhaps I'm simply working through my things-I-want-to-write-down backlog and it will get harder, but I doubt it. Again, one's creative energy seems to kick in and work consistently.
  3. It is great fun to, e.g., get a note from someone in America who has actually read Max Havelaar (and some Louis Couperus also!).
  4. If you're contemplating a New Year's project and think it's actually a good thing to do, why are you waiting?
