The Helix text editor
I recently learned that Helix exists. (Thanks, b0rk!) I’m giving it a try: I want the speed and power of a modal editor, without the trouble of maintaining a Vim setup that includes (e.g.) LSP support.
A few notes:
- My config file lives here. I love how straightforward and sensible the configuration is.
- By the way, I’ve gotten surprising mileage out of keeping config files under version control.
- I love the wave of tools written in Rust to make everyday things much better (Astral is a leader here).
- The emphasis on search and discovery within Helix makes it feel humane, not just powerful.
